Game Planning

The NECS Game Plan is our version of a treatment plan combined with a life plan. Clients along with the guidance of their Youth Life Coach develop a Game Plan within the first two weeks of services, which addresses short and long-term goals. All collateral recommendations and requests are considered within our Game Plan.

Family Work

NECS understands and respects the role that families play in the success of our clients. NECS works with caretakers and parents who are open to support and coaching, with the goal of fully engaging all family members that play a part in our client’s life.

Clinical Services

NECS works with a consulting psychologist, providing clinical oversight, and supervision - especially with our more challenging clinical cases. Additionally, we have relationships with several clinicians in the community who can provide individual and family therapy to clients and their families.

Psychosocial Groups

Adolescents often struggle with developing their identity, and their social environments tremendously influence them. Therefore, NECS provides clinically based groups that offer clients a safe space to focus on developing their identity, self-esteem, healthy coping skills, and various other vital life skills.

Team Dinners

Every month our staff & clients come together for Team Dinners. Most of our youth refer to NECS as a "family" and Team Dinner is a tool that we use to make youth feel like they are an important part of the NECS family. At Team Dinners, conversation and dialogue are highly valued and clients have the opportunity to talk freely about their challenges and obstacles with input from their peers and Life Coaches.

The NECS Basketball Clinic

Every summer NECS hosts a Youth Basketball Clinic for at-risk youth that are involved with the Department of Children and Families. Although the Basketball Clinic addresses athletic skills, the week mainly focuses on positive thinking, attitude, teamwork, determination, and leadership.

Mothers Make Me Over

“Make Me Over” is a health and wellness initiative for the mothers of clients we serve, where they receive an entire makeover and dinner. We strongly believe that how women feel about their outer appearance differently affects their ability to establish healthier family functioning.

Recreation and Enrichment Activities

Recreation and Enrichment Activities  At NECS we believe that our clients must have fun and learn while engaging in recreational and enrichment activities. We have a wide array of activities that our clients have participated in such as White Water Rafting, Blue Man Group, Cirque Du Soleil and many others.

Preparing Adolescents for Young Adulthood (PAYA)

PAYA was developed by the Massachusetts Department of Children's and Families, it serves as a handbook for skill development. The curriculum address topics that develop young adults towards independence.  Each learning module includes an assesment, skill plan and activity/resource workbook.  As you move from one skill topic to the next client will increase their understanding of the fundamentals of independent living while enhancing their abilities to make a successful and smooth transition to self-sufficent young adulthood.
